While Hope Harbor seeks to provide services to as many children as possible, it is not fair to the child or family for Hope Harbor to admit a child to its program whom it would not be able to help.
Applications are evaluated on an individual basis, but in general young people who represent a danger to themselves or others, have significant substance abuse issues, demonstrate defiance to the point that they would not be willing to participate in the program or remain on campus, or have severe emotional disturbance or extremely low cognitive functioning are outside our scope.
These children certainly need help, and Hope Harbor does provide referral information.
